Lake Daniell

                      Lake Daniell

On the 9th of September we were on the way to Lake Daniell to go Tramping. Lake Daniell is in the Lewis Pass area and the Lewis Pass is a road that crosses over the Southern Alps.

I Traveled Tim and Bob, Billie W, and Indi.  The travel was quiet but that was okay.  I just about fell asleep and on the way back to Greymouth Billie W felt sick. Preparations were when we watched videos about tramping and all the things we had to have and do if we got lost.

We stopped at Reefton to go to the toilet. We played Bullrush too. When we got  to the Lake Daniell’s walk, we all got our bags and started walking up the track.

What I enjoyed the most about walking the Lake Daniell track with my classmates was how we all just talked and had a lot of fun and we got to leave school for a day.

We walked to the Kohanga Atawhai - Manson Nichols hut and it was cool. I liked the seat that they made out of wood. The lake was cool for photos and videos and there were lots of hills and cool beech forest. It was a spring tramp.

Why we went was because of the william pike project, and we are trying to walk the length of New Zealand for a School kit organisation.  The William Pike Challenge is to get out of the class and do lots of fun activities like the beach cook out and the Lake Daniell tramp and, soon, a bike ride.

I wonder how many steps we did on the Lake Daniels walk? It's good that no one got hypothermia. Thank you to all the parents for helping us go on the tramp. Leave No Trace!
